2017 News Summary

2017 was the year of changes globally from natural disasters to terrorism and politics to sexual harassment all vying for center stage. If you missed any of our blog posts as the year rolled out be sure to check it out below.

In January it all kicked off with Donald Trump and the world waiting anxiously to see what would happen. By February there was news of new planets being discovered, Superbowl champions were crowned and fashion weeks saw beautiful models strut their stuff. By March there were terrorist attacks and Brexit moving forward along with Oscar errors and Bill Cosby news. April and May saw cyber crimes making the news along with climate change protestors taking to the streets. By the middle of the year Donald Trump faced more opposition and news on Russian interference with July taking a bashing from natural disasters, corruption and more. By August hurricanes had devastated parts of the US while the sports worlds fight of the century fizzled out. September saw repeats of natural disaster, Donald Trump and more fashion weeks. October had mass shootings rattling the US and markets saw action from Bitcoin and Brexit along with taxes and Harvey Weinstein and other men falling with the explosion of sexual harassment claims. In November we saw dictator Robert Mugabe removed from power and Catalonia standing up for itself while scandals rocked the Olympics and FIFA. By December there were wildfires in California and tax reform in place while ISIS struggled and cryptocurrencies soared.

June 2017 News


Half way through the year and we saw more terrorist attacks in the UK while Brexit made an interesting turn with Theresa May's election gamble falling short. Donald Trump saw more opposition with plans for Trumpcare finally revealed and shock when he admitted he was being investigated. Bill Cosby's sex assault trial was declared a mistrial and in the world of technology it was discovered just how far the Russian's had hacked the US Election.

Brexit - Britain leave the EU

Another month gone by and the Trump Administration is still struggling, cyber attacks continue and Brexit becomes official.

Headlines


This month saw the Trump Administration face more failures. We saw Trump Care failing to be passed by Congress along with the second Muslim Ban being blocked. Not only that but there were investigations into wire tapping claims and Russian ties to the Trump Administration and Climate Change suffered a major set back when Trump undid much of the work put in place by Obama. In the UK we saw a terrorist attack at Westminster while natural disaster claimed lives with landslides in Peru.

Business


On the business front the infamous Brexit decision was given the green light to begin proceedings while Europe's VW continued to face the repercussions of it's emissions scandal with more fines ordered.

Entertainment


Bill Cosby continued his fight against sexual abuse allegations and the Oscars apologized for the Best Picture snafu. Another celebrity hacked nude photo and sex tape scandal broke and Late Show hosts battled for ratings with Trump in their sights.

Technology


March was all about cyber security with Yahoo's security woes seeing 32 million accounts accessed while Apple also came under fire with claims by hackers saying they had accessed iCloud accounts. But of all the big security news it was WikiLeaks releasing details about the CIA's hacking efforts that got everyone's attention. Google didn't fair any better with advertisers pulling out of YouTube due to questionable content but on the bright side SpaceX made history for launching their reusable rocket.

Style


Paris Fashion Week closed off the fashion calendar with big names like Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Chanel and more while the CFDA nominees were announced for the 2017 awards.
